Rise of the Mystics by Ted Dekker

Rise of the Mystics is book two in the Beyond the Circle series by Ted Dekker. This series takes place after The Circle book series. I never read the original Circle books and started this series without any backstory at all. The first book read fine as a stand-alone (but you'll want to continue because it's just the start of the story) and this one is definitely the second half to the story. You can't read this one without the reading The 49th Mystic first.

This book picks up where The 49th Mystic left off. More death. More deception. More confusion for Rachelle. It took me a lot longer to get into this book than it did the first one, probably about fifty pages. After that, everything unfolded pretty quickly.

I liked the obvious spiritual element to this series. The Spirit pulling Rachelle towards Himself. It was a beautiful look at how God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit work together to woo someone to Himself.

I'd recommend this series to anyone who likes futuristic books and can pull symbolism from books easily.
