The reason I signed up to review this book was that I wanted to know what scared Ted Dekker (if you've ever read his novels you know what I mean). What I discovered was a man whose thirst for adventure gave him the courage to walk the road displayed before him. I haven't read the book but am curious about the line that they are people like the rest of us: fears, etc., which are emotions known to all peoples in the world put there by our Creator for various reasons. One thing, though, Islamic fanatics (a/k/a terrorists) use their religion for their ends. They are permitted to lie as written in the Qur'an if it meets those ends. Islamic fanatics subjugate their women. Islam fanatics cut off heads if you are an infidel as those of us who are not Moslems surely are. So I am curious as to what kind of love the authors mean. We are to love our enemies as individuals as the Bible says--pray for them, but . . . ? I want to read the book.
Nice review, I would have read this book sometime in the near future, but with what I read from your review I am eager to read it sooner. We all need to be more aware of what is happening in the Middle East, and know that God has a good plan for us all, and that nothing that is going on now is not something that He is surprised of.

Suzanne, my brother's work in Indonesia has been revealing to me of the struggle that goes on in the hearts and lives of those who embrace Islam. Many understand, with their head, the inconstancies of their religion. Yet their heart, strong cultural and family ties, and threat of being removed or killed if they deny Islam causes them to remain in darkness. But where there is darkness, Christ's light shines brightest!
