The Escape, by Lisa Harris, is the first book in the US Marshals series. There are a few themes running through the book and they lead way to an exciting few hours as the reader follows US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn across several states in pursuit of an escaped convict. Harris writes characters who come to life and I found myself truly engaged in the story from beginning to end. It was obvious that the author spent a lot of time in researching this book, there were details I would have never thought of but she worked through everything. This is a clean read, no bad language, no sex scenes, just a good story. I am looking forward to the rest of the series....especially since this ended with a cliffhanger!
About the book:
How do you catch a fugitive with nothing to lose? US Marshals Madison James and Jonas Quinn have orders to transport two high-profile prisoners across the country on a private plane. But when the plane experiences engine trouble en route from the Pacific Northwest to Colorado, the pilots crash-land the aircraft deep in the heart of the sprawling Salmon-Challis National Forest. With both pilots and one prisoner dead--and one fugitive on the run--Madison and Jonas must negotiate the rugged and remote backcountry as they track a murderer who is desperate to disappear...and will do anything to stop them.
