The Wish Book Christmas by Lynn Austin

Fans of a musician I used to follow would often say, "She could sing the phone book and I'd listen." Because we loved her that much. That's how I feel about Lynn Austin, whatever she writes I know I'm going to love. She could write a Seuss-like book and I'd read it. She's just that good. Her books make me feel like I'm part of the story, I step in and enjoy my time away from reality.

The Wish Book Christmas is a nostalgic glimpse into Christmas 1950's style. It takes the reader back to two loved characters from a previous novel, expands their story (which is a gift to the readers!) and gives us Christmas through the eyes of a child. How often do we wish an author would give us more to a story? Lynn does this and does it well. It can be read as a stand-alone too, because she does a good job of incorporating the back story.

This hardcover book is a petite-size novella. Easy to read in just a few hours, but you'll want to savor it because every scene is delicious to the senses. It is a daily look at a countdown to Christmas, where decisions are being made, love blooms, forgiveness finds a home, and laughter mingles with tears. A perfect seasonal read that will bring back feelings of past Christmases.

Published by Tyndale, this is one you will want to grab.
