Second Time Around by Melody Carlson

Second Time Around, by Melody Carlson, is one of the most delightful books I've read in a long time, and definitely a favorite of this author's. I have read many of her books over the years and don't remember enjoying one as much as I did this one.

We follow Mallory to Portside, Oregon where she's following up on a touristy gift shop left to her by her grandmother. Mallory is a designer and loves to romance the spaces she designs. At first, she wants to sell the property and return to her Victorian that she poured herself into renovating - it's finally where she wants it. But soon she discovers that the lot the gift shop rests on is being stalked for a mall. Mallory learns that Grayson, her high school crush, is the one who wants to develop the plot into something very different.

This story just drew me in from the first page. I wanted to be friends with these characters. (trying to write a review on this one without any spoilers is tough!) The ups and downs, the tension, the sparks....I loved it all. Delightfully clean read. A fun way to spend a few days. Read it, you'll thank me.
